London-based, Taiwan-born artist An-Ting has returned with her phenomenal new composition, ‘Willow Tit 褐頭山雀’. The visionary artist is the first since Messiaen to create an entire work from birdsong. She has crafted an eerie soundscape from field recordings (in this case taken from her explorations of the mountains of Mongolia) of the willow tilt, flowing water and the crackling of fire and layered them into a dark, ambient, experimental electronic universe. The end result is both peaceful and disconcerting. “There is a light and darkness in nature that civilisation has made us numb to and that we want to explore.” explains An-Ting.
